Halloween Dress up?

Okay, what wouldn't look ridiculous on someone 59 years old, could fit in a suitcase, and would qualify as a costume based on a Disney character?

While I'm in Florida with my son's family (watching the kids while the parents take care of business stuff), Disney World has their special Halloween activity at night.  This is several days during October when the theme parks open at night for Trick or Treaters.  Now, being me, I would have just had the kids dress up.  I would accompany them as a boring adult.  However, my daughter-in-law had other ideas.  Not only are the two kids going to be in costume, but so is she and she has talked my son into a costume too.  Now, how can grandma be the only one without a costume?  There is one more catch.  My daughter-in-law says that the costumes must be Disney characters.  That's not the park's rule, but it is her rule.

So, where does that leave me?  Malificent? (But she has a strange, large headdress, tough to pack.)  Snow White's evil stepmother?  Snow White as a grandmother?  Mom and daughter are from Alice in Wonderland.  Dad and son are from Incredibles.  Grandma?  Who know?  I'll be looking around and I'm open for suggestions.  Help.

Hmm...difficult question. I too don't dress for Halloween. Let's see bambi wouldn't work...I know Cinderella's lovely fairy godmother. I resist being a witch but she someone like a grandmother. Well that's my suggestion for the day. Get a lovely long dress and dress up, maybe look online for ideas. Good luck!

Go to Hollow Thoughts Sept 5th post and read my comment. The costume was really well done and you could wear blue or black jeans and a long sleeved blue or black turtleneck under it. The heavier the cardboard, the better the effect. You could make it the exact size of your suitcase and lay it on the bottom. Does Disney have a Queen of Knaves,or a King of ----, or a Jack of ----.
Just a thought.
PS there were also ribbons at the waist connecting the front to the back. Over the head and voila...costume.

I like the idea of Cinderella's Fairy Godmother! Remember her from the movie? Short? Gray hair? Slightly chunky? Very much a grandmotherly type.
Think "Mitchacaboola, sadjagadoola, Bibbity Bobbity Boo!"

She was adorable and her costume was very simple.

The card idea that Mare suggested also works very well. I've done the sandwich card tied at the shoulders and waist for my hubby on Valentines Day a couple of times. (And, that's all you're going to hear about that) It's fun, and easy.

There's the scarecrow from Wizard of Oz that could be easily put together and not too hard to pack.

A scurly pirate from Pirates of the Carribean. You don't have to be Jack Sparrow. I don't remember the name of the lady pirate(now there's a classic misuse of a word if I ever saw one...lady?? pirate)

You could be the grown up Wendy at the end of Peter Pan.

Let me think about this a little longer...

Hi Jo... got your blog address from Mom, love your posts. You could go as Cruella Devil, Mom went as her one year and looked so cute. Not sure how "dressed up" you want to get, but she is a good one. Heidi

I’m not much for ‘dress up’ (on Halloween or otherwise) … but ‘Fairy Godmother’ or the Teacup Lady in Beauty and the Beast come to mind. Scarecrow could be fun too If The Wizard of Oz is Disney. I’m not terribly informed about such things. Good luck ;--)
Hugs and blessings,

You could be Sleepy from The Seven Dwarfs (hmmm is it dwarfs or dwarves?) That would be an easy costume. What fun! Disney at Halloween is super fantastic! You will have a blast! You can't not have fun at Disney. They do a superb job with everything they do and to share this with the children - you will love it!! I can't wait to hear all about it!!! Have fun!!!!

This is too funny!! Sorry,, I'm so unimiginative and uncreative-- I always resort to an ugly witch--more in keeping with my true character-- I can't wait to see what happens.

I just had a wonderful thought. I don't have to teach 6th grade on Halloween this year. I think it is a dreadful holiday. Best of luck costuming. Logan will be lucky if I get enough halloween spirit to dress him up.

JoAnn - Didn't your character quiz deem you as Pocahantas? That might be a fun one--- out of the ordinary, relatively easy to do, and "You" in Disney form. You have the dark hair, and could put some dark base on your very Irish looking pale skin. (I can say that, due to the fact mine is the same pale, just ruddy and freckled.) :)
