Cycle of life

Here is a fun example of the cycle of life.  I'll be busy and driving my 300 mile commute later today, so I'm going to check in with something clever and thought-provoking.  I wish I could take credit for thinking of it.
Success is...
At age 4 success is not peeing in your pants.
At age 12 success is having friends.
At age 16 success is having a driver's license.
At age 20 success is having sex.
At age 35 success is having money.
At age 50 success is having money.
At age 60 success is having sex.
At age 70 success is having a driver's license.
At age 75 success is having friends.
At age 80 success is not peeing in your pants.

I hope that isn't too PG rated for any of you gentle people, but since there are lots of "mature" ex-teachers out there, I know you've seen and heard much more.  I just thought this was amazingly true.  We talk about the cycles of life and this just seemed a nutshell version.

Love this, love this, love this. For me success is remembering where I put the money, if I've had sex, where I left my e-mail from my friends and where the toilets are when we travel.

My mom[96] was commenting that you go out of this world relatively helpless, just the way that you came in. I said that we'd talk about it when she is bald and toothless!!

So, Jo... is this supposed to be funny? or depressing? I'm still trying to figure it out.

That's not true! It IS definitely FUNNY!!

However Mare, I've been nearly toothless since I was fourteen and the long, lush, thick, chestnut hair that I tossed flirtaciously when I was in my prime, started to leave me at about the age of 50. I've been shedding for 15 years. So, I figure bald and toothless is going to be, well,...me, in the not too distant future. I hope I get to stick around Mother Earth for a while even after I hit that sorry state. What kills me is the way our body sort of ... what? ... crumples? or scrunches? when we get older. We just walk around kind of "bent" for a while when we wake up.

So far I'm doing pretty well... I'm a little worried about the peeing your pants thing after my childbearing years.
