If anyone is truly interested in delving into the difficulties and possible solutions for the health care/insurance debate, here is a very long, but well-written article. The author is even a democrat, and although his piece is lengthy, I thought he had some very valid points. Take a look. http://www.theatlantic.com/doc/200909/health-care

I'm not too keen on your cartoon, but that would be expected.
I have skimmed the article, but will have to come back when I have more time. It seems to say we need to drop insurance and reform the delivery of medical care through for profit hospitals, clinics, etc. Keep government out of it and leave the consumer directly responsible for shopping for, selecting and paying for medical care.
I'm not sure this addresses all of the problems we are aiming to solve with health reform.
I'm back, and bleary eyed, but I did read the WHOLE article. The author has really thought this out, including all of the objections.
I'm glad I'm not the one to figure this out. How can we possibly make the changes he calls for when we can't even make small ones?
Eliminate the health insurance industry? I have long said so. How do we beat them?
And even if the government isn't paying under his plan, it has to enact all of the systems to make it happen. How can this take place when we have so many who distrust - dare I say hate- our government?
My head hurts now. Good night.
During tutoring today I read an interesting excerpt from Margaret Thatcher. She explained that when Athens (the birthplace of democracy) fell, it was because the citizens wanted to have their government provide comforts for them more than they wanted freedom.
I have been pondering on that today.
First, Lindsay is a beauty!
Second, I'm so impressed with your delving into the information surrounding the health care issue. I'll read that article ASAP.
